don't let the bed bugs bite!

So I know I suck at blogging. I'm really not too busy to do it, I just feel like I never have time and I don't have that many interesting things to say. However, I think I told you guys I was beginning the process or redecorating my bedroom at home. I traded my queen bed for a twin size because my room is reallllly tiny and it just made sense to have more space. I had yellow walls from when I previously decorated my room (when I was 12) so we kept the wall color and worked around it.
I have brand new bedding that we ordered from a website we stumbled upon online. The name of the company is Graham Kracker and it is based in Texas. Mom dealt with the lady who was SO sweet and SO friendly. She knew exactly what I wanted. She basically picked everything out on her own. We just suggested colors and designs I liked and she made it happen! I HIGHLY recommend her! Her website kind of caters to younger girls, but she said she works with lots of college aged girls and can do basically anything, SO FAB!

Anyways, my bedding is here and I'm in love. My T.V. is hung. We have to get a bedside table, hang my curtains, take down my old sconces, we're waiting on my dresser to come in and a few more minor details til everything is perfect. I can't wait. I'm so excited. Do you guys love the bedding as much as me?

worst blogger ever? yes!

I do a whole lot of nothing, but somehow never find the time to blog. My new obsession is Tumblr. It's like blogger, but just faster and shorter and more to the point. I don't have a lot to say and I doubt anyone really cares so that's why I'm partial to tumblr.

Anyhow, I'll just update you guys on what's been going on all summer. I finished school and moved home, fun stuff. I made Dean's List, heck yes (that never happens) and Dad promised we could get a pool, so the pool man comes tomorrow to begin building it. I am in the process of re-doing my room. It hasn't been redecorated or gotten new furniture and bedding since I was 12! My walls are still going to be yellow. I'm trading my queen size bed for a twin to give me more space. I have this huge picture of Audrey Hepburn that's going up. My theme is black and white. I'm having my bedding custom made with tons of black and white fabrics such as houndstooth and damask and such. It's gonna be CUTE! I have some cute Lilly Pulitzer stuff I'm gonna hang up and hopefully just make it look more sophisticated. Hopefully I can get some pictures for you guys when it's done.

I basically work everyday for my parents and do a lot of nothing. We've been to the beach the past three weekends. I'm so ready to go back to school. I'm ready for fall weather, Clemson games, hanging with friends, my new roommates, Christmas, my 21st birthday, etc! I'm having a great summer, probably my favorite summer so far, and I hope everyone else is having an amazing summer as well. It's flown by and classes will be starting far too soon.

I promise I'll try to blog more often. Until then, follow me on twitter (@jweatherford08) or follow my Tumblr (http://pearlsandpalmettotrees.tumblr.com/)!

prommmm

My little bitty brother, who was just five years old like yesterday, went to PROM last night. It was so fun seeing how a boy does prom. For me, I would get up on Saturday's go to a hair, nail, or pedicure appointment and at some point do all three. A light lunch, followed by makeup appointments, where button down shirts were a must(to ensure not messing up the hair or makeup when de-robing). To say the least, prom is 100% easier for males. My brother woke up around 1 PM, showered, grabbed some lunch (McDonald's. Can you imagine a girl eating McDonald's before she has to stuff herself in a dress? haha), shaved, and began getting dressed around 4. He left the house at 4:30 and went to pick up his date. The group was meeting at our best friends house to get in the limo and then driving down the street to one of the kid's grandma's house for pictures(she has a gorgeous yard). I took almost 200 pictures of all the couples and group shots. It was a lot of fun. Everyone looked amazing and it definitely made me MISS HIGH SCHOOL!!! =(

My brother, Dale, and his gorgeous date, Susanna.

my new obsession

I live in South Carolina, so naturally my favorite town is Charleston. The atmosphere is amazing there. The culture, the way of life, I love it. Charleston has the best shopping, I die. I live about two hours from Charleston and when I'm at my beach house it's only an hour away, so I try to get there as often as possible. On our last weekend vaca in January (for my birthday), we wandered into one of our favorite shops (it recently changed it's name and owner so I can't remember the name of the store, sorry) and I found the CUTEST line of jewelry. It's called Nicholas Lane. I assumed this was a male. After talking with a sales associate, I found out the designer actually used to live on the street Nicholas Lane. She is a female designer and many of her pieces are limited quantities. I love coral and gold is one of my favorite jewelry colors. I found the CUTEST gold necklaces with a small white coral on it. Adorable. You should really check out her website below. She has ADORABLE things. Some are pricey, but so cute!

lips, eyes, and cheeks...OH MY!

So I’m a pretty girly girl. I love shoes, bags, clothes, jewelry and especially makeup. I think I’ve tried every single brand and I THINK I have found my favorites. I’m sure I will be in a department store someday and someone will drag me into a chair and I will change my routine once again, but for now I am happy.

Not to brag, but I have really great skin. Everyone tells me this and I am very grateful for it. I rarely breakout, thank God. The bad thing is I don’t even wash my face at night before I go to sleep. I know it’s TOTALLY bad and I should start washing my face. I guess I’m just too lazy and I don’t see the point since my skin isn’t terrible. I always start washing my face and then I just forget. I’m going to start trying to wash my face before bed, we’ll see how long this lasts.

I moisturize with this great Sisley Ecological Compound moisturizer. It seriously feels so great and has SPF in it. It’s pretty expensive but the bottle is big and lasts forever.

I then follow up with this foundation by Sisley also. It goes on SO lightly. It covers really well and feels like I’m not even wearing anything. It’s also pretty expensive and doesn’t last a super long time, but I love it and think it’s totally worth it. During the summer (usually just when I am at the lake or beach and feel like being low maintenance) I will use this tinted moisturizer by Merle Norman. It is weightless, covering, and has SPF. Also, I always use a brush to put on my foundation. I squirt it into my hand then dap the brush and onto my face. Sponges are awful and germ filled. Ick.

I used to use Sisley pressed powder also, but like everything Sisley it is ridiculously expensive. My last purchase was this Chanel pressed powder and I think I really like it better because it doesn’t have a color. So I can put it on top of any foundation and it won’t change my shade. Love that. I used to swear against blush. I would never wear it. I now use Sisley bronzer over each cheekbone and then a swipe of Armani pink over it. I love the color it creates. It’s kind of peachy.

Like I said, I have tried SO many different makeup brands. I will ONLY use Chanel eye shadows. I love the sets with the four colors that go together so well. I LOVE when they have the seasonal ones that come out every so often, but the originals are great too. I typically put a light pink over my entire lid and follow with a light brown in the crease. That is my routine every single day. I vary on the shades of pinks and browns, but they are my def go to. I just recently started putting a white shadow beneath my eyes and to the edges of my cheek bones. It highlights and I love it. It’s also Chanel.

I have pretty long eyelashes, or so I’m told, but I often wish they were longer. Just like us girls have bad hair days, I sometimes have bad eyelash days and they really make me angry. I layer my mascaras. First I use a mascara brush with nothing on it, just dry, to separate my lashes. Then, my first layer is Armani Maestro mascara. It’s to die for. My second coat is Too Faced Lash Injection in the very black. I lightly put that over just to get a bit blacker and vividness.

Finally I clean up. I use a sponge to rid my eyes of any stray markings of mascara that may have hit my lids and run my lid brush over them again just to be sure.

Depending on the occasion, I will follow up with lips. Going to class I typically just swipe on some Soft Lips chapstick and out the door. Church, functions, parties, or anytime when I’m going out or just in the mood, I will put on gloss or lipstick. My favorite lipsticks are by Merle Norman. They are called Automatic Lipsticks (I think). They have the lip liner and lip stick in the same thing and they twist up, no sharpening. I love them. The colors are fab and they are so easy. I usually coat them with Chanel gloss or MAC, but I always have my chapstick as a first layer!

I love makeup and I love playing with it. PLEASE let me know some of the things you guys like. I love trying new things, so please leave feedback! And sorry for the length of this! haha

here comes peter cottontail....

hopping down the bunny trail! okay enough of that song otherwise it will be stuck in my head forever. I LOVE Easter. I love finding the perfect outfit and going to church and the whole shebang. This year I found a girl who lives near me that makes CUSTOM dresses for any occasion. So I got her to make me one. My color scheme is OF COURSE pink and green and white. I'm actually getting two dresses made for now, but my Easter dress is pink and green. (I will post a picture of it tomorrow after I wear it if the photos turn out well.) So after we picked up the dress today I went and got things to go with my outfit and a few extra's. =)

This dress is the same STYLE as mine. Where this dress is purple at the top mine is white. I, too, have a green sash with my monogram in white. And where the print is at the bottom mine is a pink and white print. It's SOOOO cute! I love it.

I will be wearing my new green patent leather Jack Rogers. They look just like these but patent where this one is snakeskin or whatever. It matches my sash PERFECTLY!

I also got some new pearl earrings...

and also an adorable pair of Kate Spade nude heels. This picture does NOT do them justice. They are so much more adorable in person.

We also bought my dad and brother matching Lilly tie's and bowtie's to wear tomorrow. They are pink and green. My mom is wearing a Lilly dress that is pink and green. We are all going to look so cute! Hopefully we get a good picture and can post it!

I hope everyone has a FABULOUS Easter!

shoo fly, don't bother me.

So I have come to terms with the fact that I will never find someone that I can marry because I am the pickiest person on the planet. I get it from my mom though. We both equally hate all the same things, weird, but true. Let me forewarn you that this blog post is nothing happy. In fact, it’s a post of all the things I hate and/or that get on my nerves. I just must share these with the world. I sit around nit picking everything people do that bother me all the time and I have to get it off my chest.

-people who insist on talking at crazy high volumes in the hallways of dorms at late hours. STOP IT.

-people who have bad table manners. Honestly if you didn’t go to cotillion, didn’t your parents teach you?

-smacking, slurping, crunching, etc.

-in class when someone’s cell phone vibrates against the table so loud. The point of vibrate is not to disturb, but it does.

-when girls (rarely guys) are talking crap about you and it’s so obvious. Seriously? Are we in high school?

-when people are eating chips or popcorn at the movies and they rattle the bag or the sound it makes when your fingers dig for the popcorn. YIKES.

-talking during movies.

-people who eat in class. As a future teacher, I find it extremely rude. Not to mention, it stinks up the room and I just hate the sound of people eating.

-people who walk slow in front of you, especially at the mall. I hate walking slow.

-mismatched clothes. Enough said.

-knock off hand bags. I could rant off on this for days. I am very fortunate in being able to afford handbags that are real (thank God for great parents) and I realize that not everyone can. However, I think that if I couldn’t afford them, I would NOT carry fake ones. It’s wrong on so many levels. It’s wrong to the designers. It’s wrong to buy them because it’s illegal. Even if you promote them to people and tell them it’s fake, it also lessens the value of those who have them. I hate seeing people with a fake version of my real bag. I see TONS of cute purses at places for only 20 dollars. (Although this is being a total hypocrite, I probably would carry a knock off Hermes Birkin because you can HONESTLY afford those? haha I guess some people can, but they are ridiculously expensive!) Anyways, I digress…

-Professors who are jerks. Enough said.

-Eating chips at the Mexican restaurant and making a loud crunch. Break the chip into bite size pieces, then dunk, then bite. SIMPLE.

-walking all the way to my class after getting up early and getting ready to find out that it has been canceled. Have some courtesy and send a freaking email. Ugh.

-waking up early in general.

- know it all’s. it’s like arguing with a sign post.

-bad drivers. I have the worst road rage. I feel as though no one can drive as well as I can. I honestly believe my life calling is a race car driver. And if I were, my car WOULD be pink =)

-t-shirts, purses, and stickers that say TWILIGHT or have the characters on them. I like the movies and the books; however, we are no longer in the fifth grade and there is no need to display such things to the world on your clothing or car.

-when people invite you to a thousand groups and/or pages on facebook. If I wanted to be a fan of yours, help your Farmville, or come see you sing in a open mic night I would do so WITHOUT a facebook invite. Thanks.

-last but not least or most important, when a girl burps. I understand that sometimes this may not be prevented for whatever reason, but it is VERY unladylike to burp at anytime and even more so at a TABLE. Ugh. I have honestly witnessed a female burping VERY loudly at a dinner table and then proceed to talk about it and how she likes to burp, etc. EW EW EW and more EW. I about died.

You all probably thing I am the weirdest person and that I hate everything, but that isn’t true. I just hate random noises and things that people do. I’m afraid that some people I am friends with might read this and feel as though they must walk on egg shells around me now. I’m not saying because you’re my friend you can do these things or that I don’t notice them. I DO notice and I DO internally cringe, but I won’t be a jerk about it. I might call you out jokingly sometimes. Anyways, enough with the things that bother me. I shall do a post about all the things that make me REALLY happy someday! I swear!

Kindle!

First, I want to apologize for my lack of posts recently. I was on Spring Break and I didn't have time prior and I'm barely making time right now. I should be writing a paper that is due tomorrow and studying for a final, but I NEED to blog right? =)

Anyways, I wanted to share with you guys my second favorite item I got for my birthday (only second to my newest Louis Vuitton bag), the Amazon KINDLE! I am an avid reader. I swear I've read every good book there is, I joke. I love to read, for fun. I hate reading for school. However, I am obsessed with my kindle for so many reasons.

It's size is so perfect. It's so thin and about the size of your average book. You can hold it with one hand and flip the pages with either button on both sides (perfect for lefty's and righty's). I just can't get over how much I love it. I worried that I wouldn't since I love to have things in hardback and keep them, but it's actually stored right on the Kindle. I often throw away my books after sometime and this way, you never have to.

I can't wait until summertime and I can layout on the boat with my Kindle and read while the wind blows through my hair and the sun tans my skin! It will be great I can promise. It thrills me just thinking about it on this chilly day. I love the pictures that pop up while it's turned off, so cute! I'm just saying, YOU HAVE TO BUY ONE! =)

GIVEAWAY and a little update....

Last night=best day of my life. I got to meet the fabulous Miranda Lambert before the concert and she was so sweet. And during the concert, she touched my hand (we were right by the stage, great seats!). It was so fun! In honor of my blog getting going and having such a fabulous night I thought that when I reach 20...TWENTY...followers I would do a giveaway. So tell your friends and when we get to 20, I'll giveaway something cool. Leave some comments and give some suggestions of some things you would like to win!

Had to include this photo!

help others help themselves.

so one of my FAVORITE blogs to read is the College Prepster blog. She writes fabulously and really blogs about things that are more important than just fashion and her favorite things. She is in a group called Grassroots and they are trying to raise the awareness about HIV/AIDS in the DC Area. I'll post a link to her blog at the bottom and hopefully you can help! I really feel like it's important to help others in their time of need. HIV/AIDS is VERY serious! It's affected so many Americans and I think if people knew more about it, there could be more done to prevent it. Please, Please, Please visit this website and see what you can do to help!

http://www.thecollegeprepster.com/2010/03/team-up-help-support.html

just copy and paste that into your address bar and ready her post about it. And read all of her blog posts, trust me they are GREAT!

paper bags, plastic bags, designer bags?

As many girls, I am obsessed with handbags, clutches, tote bags, any bag that I can carry really. I thought I'd share with you a few of my favorites and a few that I long for. If I posted a picture of all my bags I think that this entire blog would just be pages of pictures.

This is my Louis Vuitton "collection". The small round one I got for Christmas when I was fourteen. The white multicolored Speedy bag I got for my fifteenth birthday and I just had to have it "because Jessica Simpson had it on the Newlyweds" (how funny is that?). The big monogrammed canvas (Galliera GM), I got in New York this July when we visited. I fell in love with it's size. I love big bags. And my latest addition I got in January, in Charleston, for my birthday. I adore the Speedy bags, but I'm obsessed with this pattern. It's called Damier Ebene and it's the original design by Louis Vuitton himself. The actual Monogram Canvas, the most popular, is actually a design done by his son after Louis Vuitton's death. (Yeah, I'm kind of obsessed with Louis Vuitton. My mom has a lot of the luggage pieces and yes I'm VERY jealous.)

Louis Vuitton and Tory Burch are on far different levels of bags, but I adore Tory. I mostly adore her shoes. I have probably 6 or 7 pairs. (Maybe I'll do a shoe blog soon!!) I also love her bags though. They are not too expensive and really great. I also have a Tory duffel bag, but it's at school so no picture. I have three of the same bag in black, white, and brown/black dots. That bag is fabulous! I love it because it has pockets on each end that are PERFECT for slipping your cell phone and chapstick in. I even used the white bag as a bookbag tote first semester (before I realized how stupid that was. Totes are cute, but way too heavy. Actual backpacks are way more practical). And the Silver one is a bag I love also. I got it two Christmases ago and it's great! I love Tory. Her style is iconic and she is GORGEOUS!

This is just a random conglomeration of a few of my favorite bags. Like I said, if I photographed all of my bags...well I can't even imagine how many pictures would be up here. I truly LOVE Burberry. I have their perfume, their rainboots, this bag, a scarf, etc. I love Burberry, that's all their is to it. This bag is great because it's going to be trendy forever due to the fact that it's just a simple tote. It came with a nice change bag inside also. I love it. I'm pretty much OVER Coach now, as everyone has it. I think some of their things are cute but when I got this bag I did love it. I never use it anymore. The Lilly pink and green bag, on the right, I got at the beach a few summers back. I love it. It has the word "Lilly" hidden in the pattern for her 50th? Anniversary (I can't remember exactly which anniversary it was. Maybe one of you will know). I got that Michael Kors bag on the left at the bottom three Christmases ago and I loved it at the time, but I never use it anymore. It's so great and I love those pockets on the outside. Like I said, I'm such a bag whore. =)

And I know I already talked about this bag, but it's the one I'm carrying currently and I adore it. The red fabric on the inside is my FAVORITE part. My very favorite bag (not pictured above) is my Gucci bag I got in Charleston a few years back. It is waterproof, which sounds awful, but its amazing. Unfortunately it's at school, otherwise I would have a photo. Anyway, what are you guys carrying and who are your favorite designers, whether they be high end or not? I love all bags. I will say I have a sweet spot for designers, but I sometimes find the cutest things at Target!

RueLaLa!!

I don't know how many of you have heard of Rue La La but it's so cool. It's a clothing website that is available by invitation only. Everyday they have new "boutiques" that offer BIG sales on designer items. I saw today there is Juicy Couture, Tarte, Lacoste, Malandrino, etc. And everyday there are new boutiques. I know they had a big Lilly Pulitzer sale the other day. Anyways, I'm inviting you all to join. Just follow the link below and you too can find sales on all the cool designers out there! Seriously there is a realllly cute Juicy watch that I want! Happy shopping!

i got a feeling...

that this blog is really going to be fun! I've had it for a while now and I really haven't done anything substantial with it. But I've spent most of my Sunday morning browsing random blogs and some that I follow and I have some really great ideas! I gained two new followers and I'm really excited about that! I'm technically new to this whole blogging experience, so if you have any suggestions please don't hesitate to let me know! I really appreciate feedback and am excited to get this thing going!

So let's start with something I ran across and found to be neat...

5 Things I am Thankful For:
1: My family. Without them I would be nothing. They are constantly supporting me and providing me with the best things in life. I am so spoiled by my parents and I couldn't be more grateful, although I don't always show it.

2: My doggies. I typically would not voice this because I usually say how much they annoy me, but not today. My mom, their number one fan, is out of town right now and I am at home with them. They are both cuddled up with me. Cooper is a little thing so him on my lap is no big deal; however, Kasey, the lab, is also on my lap and he's a bit heavy.

3: My education. gasps all around? ha. I know I complain about school all the time, but I really am glad that I'm doing this. I often wonder "If I wasn't in school, what would I be doing?" and I know the answer. I would be working for my parents and loathing every second of it. So I really shouldn't take my schooling for granted.

4: My friends. They are the best. I have a small group of close friends. My school does not have a Greek system and that typically means you are not overflowing with friends. I think it's better to have friends you love for YOU and not because you pay a fee to be in their group.

5: My bed. On weekends when I come home it really hits the spot. There is no comparison to my super comfy queen bed and my college provided twin bed. Although I have MANY mattress toppers on my twin bed, it just isn't the same.

There are SOOO many more things that I am thankful for, but those were the first five that popped in my head. I have some new ideas that will be coming soon. I'm going to try to post one blog a day, but knowing how addicted I get to things like this, there may even be two a day. We'll see!

sitting, waiting, WISHING...

I am home this weekend from college, like many weekends, and my parents have gone to the beach...and I'm bored. And as I sat here wishing for so many things I thought I would fill you all in on what I wish I could have right now...

how much do you love that bag? I so wishhh. Those things are ridic expensive.

I would never get to use it, but how adorable is the Lilly Pulitzer golf cart?

I have the white Michael Kors watch surrounded with the crystals or whatever, but I really want the gold one!

When I got my last Louis Vuitton bag, I wanted this iPhone cover so bad but the lady told me at the time there were only two available in all of North America. So I'm still wishing for that one.

and there are many, many more things. but I am beyond blessed and honestly don't need to be wishing for any of these things! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

new layout

Okay, so I think one of the many reasons I don't blog is because my page was so boring. I read a lot of people's blogs on here and am always inspired to get mine going, but I never do! I think it's about time I got this thing looking cute! I hope to gain some new followers and continue to be inspired to post on this thing. I have a lot of ideas about things to do on here, and I'm hoping to get to them as soon as I finish tweaking things! Let me know what you think!

sorrrrry

So I'm super sorry about not updating this thing! I forgot about it and I just haven't had anything important to say, but suddenly I'm bored and stumbled upon this. So I thought I'd update and TRY to keep updating. So, I looove Fall and Winter, but I am so ready for Summer. I miss the beach, the warmth, boats, the Inlet, my beach house, sundresses, flip flops, and the great state of South Carolina's HEAT(sometimes). OH AND I MISS A TAN! Geez, I'm pale. Gross.

So Christmas went FABULOUS. I'll give a small rundown of what I got: "Barbie-pink" Christian Louboutin pumps, white Michael Kors watch, Citrine ring, Saphire ring, monogram key necklace, Uggs and Ugg moccasins, Citadel hoodies, Gucci scarf, a new Longchamp tote, hello kitty blinged out phone cover, Miranda Lambert and Brad Paisley tickets, a mini laptop, Pashmina scarves, J.Crew necklace, jewelery box, Lynne Curtin cuff, and SO much more! I loved everything I got.

My birthday is in SEVENTEEN DAYS. Although, twenty is NOT a big birthday, I still love birthdays. I want a MACbook Pro SO bad, but I'm pretty sure I will NOT be getting one of those. =(

The spring semester started yesterday and today was my first day of Tuesday/Thursday classes. I am very excited about my Education class because this is the FIRST time I will get to go out into school and teach mini lessons. I love my english professor. I had her for 101 and she was to die for so I had to take her again! I'm not at ALL excited about my math or my kines class, but science is not looking too shabby.

Well that's all for now folks because its 1:15 and I'm TIRED! Talk soon!
